Long time readers of GamePro Magazine that covered our favorite games like Street Fighter II, will be saddened to hear that the long time gaming magazine will be closing down.
After 22 years of publication, popular gaming magazine GamePro‘s U.S. operations have been shut down by its parent company IDG, VentureBeat has learned.
Multiple sources within the magazine confirmed that GamePro employees, including executives, received phone calls first-thing this morning with the dreaded news. GamePro’s U.S. website, which has been online for 13 years, will be incorporated into a gaming channel at sister sitePCWorld on December 5. The majority of GamePro staff will be laid off.
VIV Mag has produced an all motion digital magazine cover and feature spread for the Apple iPad. It’s interesting seeing the different directions printed magazines are trying to take to figure out what’s going to work on the iPad and other tablet devices.
This conceptual video is a corporate collaborative research project initiated by Bonnier R&D into the experience of reading magazines on handheld digital devices. Mag+ illustrates one possible vision for digital magazines in the near future,
It’s less than a month away until our beloved Korean princess turns 30, but she’s still looking damn fine. Girls ten years her junior would die to look half as good as Hyori. Check out her latest pics in this photoshoot with Ceci magazine for the May 2009 issue.
Magazines aren’t dead yet, which means you’re going to need a way to store them in style. With the Inno Wall Case designed by Mikko Laakkonen, you’ll be able organize your magazines while showing off your eye for architectural beauty. The Inno Wall Case can be wall attached or freestanding.
Complex magazine seems to be in a war every month with Maxim magazine in booking the hottest girls for their covers. Usually Maxim wins, but this month I’m going to have to award Complex for landing Victoria’s Secret Angel Marisa Miller. Check out the complete photoshoot at Complex.com.
Behind the Scenes Marisa Miller Video of the Photoshoot
Malibu Magazine has a great set of photos as well as an interview with veteran Sports Illustrated and Victoria Secret supermodel Marissa Miller.
Did you always want to be a model? Were you shocked when photographer Mario Testino discovered you on that fateful day in Manhattan Beach?
No and yes. As you know I’m from Santa Cruz, a really small town in Northern California. There is really very little awareness of the entertainment industry or tabloids or US Weekly up there. Even to be aware of celebrity is rare. Everybody pretty much surfs or skates, and it’s a very simple existence. S0, modeling wasn’t something I even knew was an occupation. Even when I was 16 years old putting pictures and posters on my wall, I never had the thought, “Oh, the people in these pictures are models and this is what they do for a living.” It was just my sisters and I messing up our room, just ripping out pages in magazines and sticking them on the wall. That was the extent of me reading fashion magazines. I didn’t really have a big clue about any of it. I was aware of it, but nothing like this is what I want to do some day.
I just received my July/August 2008 issue of Men’s Health in the mail this morning. I flipped through it quickly as usual, but something caught my eye that made me do a double take. It was none another than 2005 World Badminton Double’s Champion Howard Bach, featured as one of ten Top American Olympic Athletes.
Now why would I be so excited to see Howard Bach in Men’s Health? It’s because Badminton rarely gets the mainstream media attention other sports do in the U.S. like Tennis, Basketball or even Golf. The average sports junkie probably thinks Badminton is just a fluffy backyard game played during picnics.
Real players know though, that Badminton is a serious sport. Birdies have been clocked at speeds of 200mph. That’s faster than a tennis serve and faster than a pitcher can throw a ball in baseball. Much faster. It’s a sport that requires extreme endurance, agility, strength and speed. Don’t believe me? Google a badminton gym in your neighborhood and play a game of singles with the local pro. He’ll have you fumbling around like an idiot, and exhausted in no time.
