We received some sad news today that FanimeCon 2020 has been cancelled. In an announcement from Eric Wu, FanimeCon Chairman, FanimeCon will be deferred to May 28-31st, 2021.
Dear FanimeCon Community,
On behalf of the FanimeCon staff, I hope you and your loved ones are staying safe and healthy during this unprecedented time.
We are reaching out to you today to announce that FanimeCon will be deferred to May 28-31st, 2021. We thank you for your patience while we worked to establish a healthy and safe solution for the convention in the midst of a pandemic. Until recently, we did not have a viable solution, but with the hard work of our partner management team, we were able to come to this resolution.
This was going to be Kineda's first year as a dealer in the Dealer Hall at FanimeCon and it looks like it'll have to wait until next year. We had some really exciting new pieces to show everyone, but as disappointed as we are, this was absolutely the right move by Fanime. The high number of COVID-19 cases in the Bay Area, and especially in the Santa Clara/San Jose area is too great of a health risk.
Here's some reactions from FanimeCon's cancellation on Twitter:
Looking forward to seeing you all next year at FanimeCon 2021!
